About The BTS
The objective of The British Train Society is to provide an organization for individuals with a mutual interest in subjects pertaining to the history, operating practices , motive power, rolling stock and developments of the railway system in the British Isles both past and present. These interests will be fostered through an exchange of information based on actual operating knowledge, research or experience gained in other ways. Railway modeling, or model operation, provides a theme around which other interests can be explored but not to the exclusion of other topics. The Society's activities are non commercial and are intended to promote the mutual interests of the membership in a spirit of respect and fellowship.
Layout modules
Inaddition to our monthly meetings, members of the British Train Society participate in a number of exhibition activities. The British Train Society participates in at least one annual train show where we setup an 18 module display layout featuring OO scale British trains. At other train shows we display a selection of trains, literature and modules.
The following are a few of the modules created by our members that form part of the exhibition layout.
This module represents a viaduct and was built by a team of six from the Society including Don Buchanan and John Nichlas who fabricated the outline and the module; the viaduct is based on a prototype location.

Another of our skilled members, George Rowland has built a module whose scenery includes an operating mill. as shown below.
